RESPONSIBILITY TO CHANGE DIVISIONS

If I select "Merge or Refund" or "Merge or Medal"
The QBJJC reserves the right to adjust registrations where appropriate - it is the policy of the AFBJJ Inc. & QBJJC not to have categories with only one competitor. One competitor categories will be abandoned with the Master competitors being moved down in age to another category i.e. an adult born on 23-07-1977 will be 44 years old on the 31st of December and should select the Master 3 Division - this adult (if he is alone in his chosen category) will be moved to the first available weight category whether that be a Master2, Master1 or even to an Adult category. Juveniles may be moved to Adult Categories. Kids will be moved up in age category, however will not be able to compete in Juvenile. The same too goes for a competitor in a single competitor category, they will be merged up in weight to the first available category. On rare occasions competitors who are matched may be merged up to match with a single competitor category.

I realise that I may be merged into another weight, age, belt or even gender category to ensure that I have a match, and that this will be done to the next closest division available, and wave my right for a refund in this event of this occurring! However any competitor that the QBJJC is unable to be merged at their discretion is eligible to receive either a 100% refund (minus transaction fees) if they selected "Merge or Refund" and waive their rights to a medal and points. Or if there is no possible matches and no other division you can be merged into, and you selected "Merge or Medal" you will receive the gold medal on top of the podium and points, only after you have made weight and had your uniform inspected.

I also understand that the option for the QBJJC merge divisions is only available during the matchmkaing and scheduling phase and that competitors cannot be merged after this time, nor at the competiton.

If I select "Remain & Medal"
I REALISE IT IS MY OWN RESPONSIBILITY TO CHANGE DIVISIONS IF I DO NOT HAVE A MATCH!
Competitors in Single Fighter Categories are responsible to choose who they compete against and can change to the division they choose. Kids/Juvenile may go up in Age & change weight, Adults/Masters may go down in Age & change weight. Or they can instead decide to stay where they are and make weight to receive their gold medal on the podium and points in their chosen division. The choice is yours. Competitors have up to and including the day of Check, Change & Withdraw to decide, and or be refunded 50% of registration. If you select "Remain & Medal" you will not be moved even if you are unmatched.

Competitor Lists:
Competitor Lists will be LIVE throughout the registration process and can be viewed by checking out the registrations tab on the event page. We encourage everyone to login by or before the last day of registration and check their details along with the competitor lists. The last day competitors or instructors can make changes is on the Check, Change or Withdraw day before 10pm. Do not wait until after this time when the brackets are published and locked in with the schedule created to confirm such details as it will be too late.

AFBJJ Membership required
All competitors are required to have current AFBJJ memberships to compete in all AFBJJ nation wide events. In order to compete the online registration process, competitors must authenticate using their AFBJJ membership username/ID & password. If you have any further membership related queries or assistance, please email [email protected].Rules
This event follows the IBJJF rules. All competitors are expected to be familiar with all these rules and the uniform requirements prior to registering for this tournament. Ignorance is not an excuse - please follow this link to see the current IBJJF rules. https://ibjjf.com/rules/

Age Selection
The AFBJJ calculates competitor date of births against the 31-12-2021 (or current year minus year of birth) in alignment with IBJJF rules. So, a competitor born on the 12-09-2007 will therefore compete in the 14 Year Old age group.

Weight Selection
Weights in the drop down box are represented as net with the appropriate Gi or No Gi allowance already included in division e.g. the 82.3kg division already includes the 3.3kg allowance of the 79kg division. Competitors must be under the weight division when they step onto the official scales or they will be disqualified immediately.

Weigh In
Competitors should present themselves at the weigh in and uniform inspection station no less than 30min before their scheduled match. Also important to note the schedule is dynamic and changes throughout the day, please check your times regularly to ensure that you do not miss your weigh in and become disqualified.

Juniors transitioning to Juvenile & Adult Belt Ranks
The QBJJC recognises that Black Belts & Head Instructors, will know which is the correct rank to graduate a Junior to in the year they turn 16. No Juveniles or Adults may wear Junior coloured belts (Grey, Yellow, Orange or Green) - Instead they must wear either White, Blue or Purple Belts at their instructors discretion!

Academy/Team Name:
Competitors are responsible to ensure they have registered under the correct academy/team name. Once registration is completed this cannot be altered.

Team Points:
Competitors in single fighter divisions will be allocated team points only if they have passed uniform inspection and weigh in, at or before the allocated time.

Team Ranking:
Teams will be ranked in the following order.
First Consideration - Team points will be allocated based on Gold, Silver & Bronze placings. The Team with the most points overall will win the first place, Followed by the team with second highest overall points in second and the team with third highest points in third.
Second consideration - In the event a team is tied on points, ranking between the tied teams will be determined by the better ranking going to the team with the most gold medals. If it is still tied then the team with the most silver medals will receive the better ranking. Then if it is still tied then the team with the most bronze medals will receive the better ranking

RISK AND INSURANCE
The competitor and/or their guardian (if under 18yrs) acknowledges and agrees that the competitor shall be responsible to obtain all or any insurance for loss and/or medical, hospital, life, income protection, personal, property, or any other risk or damage that the competitor may cause or suffer, (whether directly or indirectly) and the competitor covenants that he acknowledges that any failure by the competitor to fully insure himself against any accident, damage, injury, loss, whatsoever, howsoever arising shall be solely at the risk of the competitor. And the competitor and/or their guardian (if under 18yrs) hereby indemnifies the QBJJC against all and any loss or damage caused directly or indirectly by the competitor’s involvement in the event or contest. Furthermore, the competitor shall make themselves available at QBJJC's discretion to undergo pre and post bout medical examinations, including drug testing, by duly qualified personal on the day of the event, at the QBJJC’s discretion and shall participate in the event solely at the QBJJC’s discretion, dependent upon the interpretation of the results of those tests at the sole discretion of the QBJJC.

PARAMEDICS
All events have Qualified First Aid Medics, as well as Paramedics who can treat and give pain relief on site, so anyone injured in pain does not need to wait until an ambulance arrives, they can be treated immediately.AWARDS & GIFTS
Competitors may only receive their medals whilst standing on the podium with the other competitors who placed in their division. If a competitor does not do this they will not receive their medal at a later date and this action may also cause a disciplinary result, potentially banning a competitor from competing in other divisions at the same tournament - due to bad sportsmanship. Competitors that are eligible for a gift, prize, T-shirt or other awards must collect them on the day of the competition. If they are not collected on the day of the tournament, the competitor is forfeits their right to all gifts, prizes, T-shirts or other awards.

REFUND POLICY
Only competitors that have selected "Merge or Refund" and are unable to be merged after Check & Change Day will be eligible to receive a full refund (minus transaction fees). However if a competitor misses their weight or does not attend, they are not eligible for a refund.

Any competitor that decides to withdraw from the competition prior to the Check, Change & Withdraw deadline, may receive 50% of their fee refunded. Competitors seeking the 50% fee re-compensation must do so before the Check, Change & Withdraw option closes or they will be unable to. No entries will be transferred or credited. There are no refunds or credits for this event, no exceptions. You will not be entitled to a refund or credit, regardless of whether or not you participate. By paying for your registration you will be put into a bracket and be called to compete on the day of competition. You will lose your first match by disqualification if you do not show up for your match, do not have an approved uniform, do not make the minimum qualification for that bracket, are required to isolate or have an injury, Covid-19 or other medical condition that will not allow you to compete. This also includes single competitor categories when you are unable to be merged into another division, or your opponent/s have withdrawn from your division. This also includes divisions where all other opponents withdraw, are disqualified or absent and only one competitor remains. In this instance the single competitor will gain points to be nationally recognised, as well as team points, and be awarded the Gold Medal on the podium, and declared the winner.

Choose your divisions carefully. Competitors cannot withdraw from a single division. The only current option is for competitors to withdraw from the entire competition and then re-enter at the price on the date of the new registration.
